Do I need to bring a fishing license?
No. Anglers do not need to bring a fishing license for your charter, as the boat provides one for legal fishing. This ensures you can catch and keep your limit of rockfish and other species harvested during your trip.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Feel free to bring your own food and drink on your charter. Since our trips last 5-6 hours, we don’t want anyone getting hangry out there! Just a heads-up: please avoid bringing glass bottles or anything that could make the boat smell like a science experiment gone wrong!
What does the mate do?
A mate on a fishing charter plays a crucial role in ensuring the trip runs smoothly and that guests have an enjoyable experience. Before the trip, the mate prepares the boat by readying all equipment, stocking bait, and ensuring the vessel is clean. Throughout the trip, they assist guests by setting up fishing gear, baiting hooks, and offering fishing tips and techniques. The mate also helps guests reel in their catches, safely handles the fish, and provides assistance in measuring and documenting the catch according to regulations. They ensure that all safety protocols are followed, provide life jackets, and assist in any emergencies. After the trip, the mate cleans the boat, maintains the equipment, and prepares for the next charter. Additionally, mates often share their knowledge of local marine life, fishing techniques, and conservation practices with the guests, enhancing the overall experience. In essence, the mate is there to make the trip enjoyable, safe, and successful for everyone on board.
